World Mental Health Day Celebrated October 10

World Mental Health Day is celebrated annually on October 10th. We believe that there is no health without mental health, and this day is a great reminder to check-in on your own mental and emotional well-being.

The theme of 2024’s World Mental Health Day is “It Is Time to Prioritize Mental Health in the Workplace.” This topic is vitally important for parents, caregivers, and older teens with part-time jobs. The COVID-19 pandemic pulled back the curtain on workplace conditions that are harmful to mental health, and now it’s our turn to make positive changes.

Here are some ways that you can prioritize your mental health on WMHD and all year long:

Express Gratitude – Simply saying “thank you” to those around you can foster healthy relationships and improve your outlook on life. Studies show that people who regularly express gratitude are happier and more fulfilled.

Participate in Mindfulness Activities – Once or twice a day, take a few moments to focus on the present. You can practice deep breathing, do some gentle stretches, or jot down your feelings in a journal.

Be a Role Model for Mental Health – Our children and coworkers are watching us! Use your PTO, take that coffee break, and close your inbox when you’re feeling overwhelmed. Be honest about your struggles, and advocate for better policies in your workplace. Your efforts can make a big difference.

As Dr. Noam Shpancer wrote, “Mental health… is not a destination, but a process. It’s about how you drive, not where you’re going.” Thank you for celebrating World Mental Health Day with us!
