The proof is all over the news–Teen mental health is more important than ever.
When your teen knows they are perfect just the way they are, they can have the confidence and self-esteem to tackle life’s challenges. That’s the mission of E3 Discovery! Finding out their unique instincts can help teens cultivate good mental health.
Beyond that, there are several other steps you can take to promote mental health in your house:
- Encourage conversation. Let your teen know that it’s safe to come to you if they’re struggling with a mental health disorder.
- Watch out for stress. Teen brains are more vulnerable to stress than adult brains, so keep an eye out for signs that your teen is facing more than they can handle.
- Model coping strategies. Be honest about when you’re struggling, and model how exercise, sleep, meditation, etc. help your own mental health.
If you feel like you’re in over your head, get help. Talk to your teen’s doctor or take advantage of the resources from NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness.
In addition, we are excited to share that the new 9-8-8 mental health crisis hotline is now live across the US. Launched on Saturday, July 16, this emergency number allows those experiencing a suicidal crisis or emotional distress to speak with trained counselors and access resources in their area.
